Happens all the time in BMWs, rarely in our 'Tours. Likely is the IAC or a component related to it. A little help here guys, I only know about this on BMWs.
Read through this thread, this is what I went through with my '95.
Thing drove me crazy, but seems ok now. Athough it sure doesn't seem as peppy as it did before all this started happening. Fuel mileage is much better now and no more stalling out.
doe sit happen when the climate control is in any possition to the right of off? these setting also use the A/C compressor and if you are low on R-134A the system will turn on and off as the pressure changes. re-charge/testing kits are available at wal-mart for about $30.
that is my guess based on the fact it happens with the A/C on and the age of your car
