i recently added some r134a to recharge my ac. after 3-4 days it died out completly. i bought some of the green flouresent die you shoot in to check for leaks and found none. is there some simple way to check to know what could be broke. could i tell if the compressor or clutch is broken somehow? i was thinking maybe taking it to pep boys or somewhere and have them run a ac check. any suggestions?

Since you do not have the tools or training and this forum is not an appropriate method of providing both, take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

I agree. I suggest going to a place that secializes in automoive air conditioning systems.

it could be any number of things from a leak in the condenser, the evaporator, a hose or seals in the compressor. It could also be the compressor clutch is not enguaging and the reason you don't have AC is becasue the clutch isn't enguaging the compressor.

There is a relay to check and you have to monitor the pressure. If you have adequate pressure, and the relay is good, but the clutch doesnt engage, you've got bigger problems. If you have a meter and you want trouble shoot further, there was a post about 2 weeks ago that showed where/how to check the key circuit test points.
