probably not, but the stock amp = suck anyway, and you will most likely be bypassing it (if you care at all about your sound quality) so it would just be extra weight.

It sounds like others have given their opinion of the factory CD player, but they didn't give you much of an answer to your question.

The factory CD player needs to be used with the factory amp. The factory amp was used with vehicles with premium sound with cassette players as well. Not all factory systems with cassete players were premium sound with amps. All factory CD players had premium sound with amps.

My SVT came with a factory CD and I swaped it out for a factory cassette player within a few days of purchase. I obtained a cassette player ment for use with the premium sound amp.

If someone tries to install your CD player on a car without the amp, the connectors will not work and if they did find a way to make it work it would not be very loud with poor sound quality.

what else would you do with the amp? it's easy to remove. I sold my factory 'premium sound system" on ebay for about $80.00 last year.

The head unit supplies an unamplified signal. Any amplifier aftermarket or the stock amp will work with the head unit to amplify the signal to run the speakers.

Sell 'em up on ebay as a package deal. I got $187.50 for mine.

i had my stock stereo replaced with an ALPINE by Circuit City. I told them to remove the amp and rewire it, but what they actually did was install a adapter to bypass it. People on ebay are askin if the cd player will include the amp... and if its true what BIGJIM is sayin, then is it possible for me to remove it due to the adapter? and where is the amp located???

If bypassed, you can remove it. It's behind the glovebox. Three bolts and it's out.
