How would you go about cleaning your mass air flow, and how can you tell if the wires are going bad on the connection? If you could send a pic showing where to clean the mass air flow that would be great thanx.

i got rid of a cel one time by using electrical contact cleaner on it.....just make sure that bad boy is dry before you start you car back up

Welcome to the boards!

Give us some info:

Contour or Mystique?
Duratec (v6) or Zetec (4 cyl)?
What conclusion made you think to clean the MAF?

Just general info...

The best cleaner to use for the MAF is the Berryman B-12 Chemtool. But like he said, make sure it is dry first. If it is indeed dirty, you should see a black/grey color build-up on the post on the V6 MAF and the wire coils on the Zetec MAF. The Chemtool seems to get the parts cleaner and dries faster without a film.

chemtool is great stuff...i used berryman's non chlorinated brake cleaner to clean my maf a month or so ago, and chemtool intake cleaner to do the throttlebody and egr ports

just dont do it on a windy day...it really starts to burn when it gets in your eye
