Hey everyone

Im new here and have a question about a tach I installed. It said to connect it to the negative side of the ignition coil, so I did, and it says my engine idles at about 400 RPM. and redline at 3100 RPM. I was wondering if this was right, because I have never seen any factory engine idle below about 800 RPM. I dont know if the tach is wrong or if I hooked it up wrong. If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks
Chris

What tach do you have? I had to have mine recalibrated from Autometer.

you have it hooked to where i had mine. u can't hook it there, it reads half the actual rpms. splice the wire into the wire for the tach behind the dash.

Try looking at my tach install how-to, located here. Some people have found it useful, some have not. But it can't hurt to take a look. Good luck.

Still might work right with it hooked up to the stock wire. You will always get a better reading from the coil. Just get the tach calibrated.
