Mine has had a "buzzing" sound coming from the center of the dash when accelerating when cold. After the car warms up it goes away. Not sure if it's when the engine has warmed up or the interior. I've been living with it for the last 40K, but I wouldn't miss it if I can ever eliminate it.

I have the same noise, only when the motors hot, and when Im running it hard, like up a steep hill or accelerating from a stoplight hard. I think L8 Apexing Aussie is right. Have no idea what to do about it though

I used to own a Crow Victoria before and used to the samething as your car is doing, the dealer told me that it was normal all it is, is the chip of the car adjusting to your acceleration. To make your car more effecient (in terms of gas millage) the computer changes the oxygen-gasoline mixture, however when you accelerate it has to adjust the mixture to make your car more powerful, so don't worry. The noise might be from the type of gas you are putting in your car, as it was in my case, make sure it is the cheap one the computers and set for those. If the noise persists just take it top a machanic or forget about it might go away by itself. Hope is the last one that dies right?!!?!?

CRZYDRVR's comments are exactly what I'm getting. What does " detonation from the engine" mean?

Simply put, detonation is when your engine is combusting the fuel by compression before the spark does it's job. This typically causes the sound you are refering to. It can be very bad for your engine due to the loads put on to the piston before it has reached "top dead center", or close to it. It basically is pushing the piston down onto the crank before its time. I believe that is what you are talking about, if I left anything out, or am wrong, then someone else hopefully can clarify.

It sounds like the "detonation" problem is the cause of my noise. Could someone tell me what to do fix this problem?

For a tempory fix, try premium fuel as it requires more compression to make and engine detonate. I would still take it to a dealership to see what the problem is because you shouldnt be required to use premium fuel on your vehicle. The detonation most commonly is caused from an improper air-fuel ratio, and CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE if it is not adressed.

I have a 2.5 Duratech atx. 30k miles had a slight marble in a can rattling on slight throttle. Got worse and louder and occured at all rpms higher than 2k. Took it to the dealer. They said they didn't hear squat. They must be deaf there. But the said they reprogrammed it and there was a TSB out about pinging.
Still pings a little. Rarely though. Its only been 2k miles since the reprogramming.

Does car ever "run-on" i.e. "dieseling" after ignition switched off. If so could be carbon build up in cylinders.
