I was looking at where the IAC is and it looks like a pain to take off. How much estimated time would it take to get it of, clean it and get it back on?

if ur gonna take it off just replace it. it's only ~$40. cleaning it is only a temporary solution, especially since there is no lubrication for the valve...that's one of the reasons they go bad so frequently.

After a couple of swear words and trying to figure out how to get the bottom bolt, I think I got my IAC off (a '95 SE) in about 30 minutes. Getting it back on only took like 10. I'm no mechanic and my tools aren't the best.

I believe the bolts are an 8mm head. For the lower bolt, I'd suggest a 1" deep socket with a universal joint. Otherwise, ya tear your hand up with the limited movement available down under there.

Had I known they were only $40 bucks, I woulda bought a new one rather than clean mine. Don't forget to replace the gasket (like $3 at the dealer)

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.
You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.
How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have?
You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!
