I have had this pretty damn annoying problem with my svt where in 1st and 2nd gears (rarely 3rd) when I press on the gas or let off, the car jerks and makes loud clunking noises. It even happens when I only feather the gas pedal. It feels like the engine is moving around, so I am guessing its the motor mount inserts. I have decided to buy new energy suspension ones. How many should I get? Should I just get however many (3 or 4 I'm guessing) of the exact same type, like the ones that cost around $18.00 from spmotorsports or cta? One last thing, what's the install like, should I have a mechanic do it for me? Thanks.

It could be the front lower control arms. There are rubber bushings in them that get worn out over time. I have the same symptoms and the control arms are a known problem on my car. It's the entire subframe moving around. I already checked my engine mounts/roll restrictors and they are fine.
Only problem, there is no way to upgrade them if you have the horizontal style like me. You can buy OEM, get a set from BAT, or wait for Haines Motorsports to come out with upgraded arms. If you have the vertical style, then HMS already can sell you a set with upgraded poly bushings.

Would it be wise to replace the front lower control arms and the motor mounts, just to make sure? Can you get the front lower control arms through somebody like Bill Jenkins (I hate my dealership)?

Bill Jenkins won't be able to get parts 2 months iirc because he's in the process of moving...check out ford parts online for new A-Arms/bushings(yes you have to buy the whole thing)
I can tell you right now it IS your A-Arm bushings. I have the same problem which I just found out NO THANKS TO MY DEALERSHIP! Jack your car up and wedge a prybar so that you can push the A - Arm forward...you'll be REALLY surprised at what your wheel does!

Pictured on that page is the "vertical style" lower front arms. Lucky me I have the expensive horizontal style.

So, HMS, Mr. Haines, where can we get the upgraded bushings?
By the way, whats it going to cost for a Quaife installation?

are those prices in US$??
here's the problem i have on my contour. When i'm driving around 60km/h i hear some noise coming out of my front left wheel. and if i steer to the right just a little bit, the noise is louder and sounds like something is rubbing off my tire. I looked in there, but there's nothing. And if i'm at low speed, like 20-30km/h, it seems that i dont hear that noise. Another thing, a totally different noise when i'm going off the ramp for example, and ONLY when steering to right. sorry if i didn't explain the problem very well, hopefully somebody here had some kind of a same problem and can share it.
Thanks a lot!

Might as well check the sway bar for movement. Reach behind the front wheel and push/pull on the sway bar to see if it is loose or moves side to side. The sway bar bushings wear out and allow the bar to slide over and rub the inside of the tire in some cases.
