Hey guys, I have a question about my door. Is there a way to tighten the door because my door sags and rubs againts the front fender right behind the driverside front wheel. when I actually pull up on the door as i'm opening it, the door doesn't rub, so I know the door must be sagging. What can I do to get the door back up to its normal position?

On older cars, particularly 2 doors, with lots of wear replacement of hinge pins/bushings was sometimes necessary to corrrect the problem you are describing.

On the Contour I think you can also loosen, adjust and retighten the door hinges to try and cure the problem. Hinge replacement may be required if Ford doesn't sell replacement pins/bushings.

If you attempt it yourself you must provide adquate support for the door as they are quite heavy.

I adjusted the doors on my old Dodge with a 2x4 once. eek Opened the door, put the 2x4 on the door sill, closed the door till it touched the wood, and then lifted. It moved it enough that it didn't rub anymore.

I eventually replaced the hinge pins and adjusted everything when I took the dash out.
