I'm not mechanically sophisticated like most of you guys but I can do simple things.

The AC in a 95 Contour has never needed a recharge. It is now taking a long time to get cool (it does get somewhat cool eventually) and it's not cool enough to my liking so I figure it just needs some coolant added.

I understand this is an easy thing to do with a kit from any parts store.

I don't have the manual for this vehicle, so I would appreciate someone advising me on where in the engine compartment is located the location (plug) for recharging and what does it look like.

Any other advice on doing this also welcomed.

With some embarrassment on my lack of knowledge, I thank all who would respond here.

I wouldn't recommend a/c system as the place to start gaining DIY experience, take it to a pro.

FYI: Various valves for a/c are visible on a/c hoses around rad. covered with caps. The valves themselves are kinda like tire air valves, I think the proper name is Schroeder valves.

Since Freon is a regulated material, you will need a license to purchase it from a store.
If you have it already, it is fairly easy to add. Just locate the schrader valve on the suction side of the compressor. This is the larger of the two lines (discharge is always smaller). Hook-up your hose/can and your off!
This is an over-simplified version, so you may want to consult a manual first.
