I was driving my girlfriend home at around 2am... doing the standard 75-80 to reduce the overall trip time (she lives kinda far away). when suddenly everything turns off. Engine dies, all console lights and interior lights = off. but my fog lights work! and my radio! By use of manual steering and braking i manage to take the next off ramp and crawl into a kfc parking lot.

Problem: unknown
Days in the shop: 2



Turbo'd Cougar 2.0L w/ 75 shot ... its got some stuff in it ... NOT that fast NOT that furious :P

k, the problem was diagnosed, a megafuse was blown (relay). Not a problem 8 dollars to fix it... now here is the good part

i go to get my car back today and guess what things had they broken. They broke my key off in the ignition, they broke my kickplate clips (so now it hangs by the one surviving clip). and they didn't even re-assymble my dash... i said to myself "ill deal with the dash" i dont trust anyone touching my car anymore... mechanics seem to do nothing but break stuff that they aren't 100% familiar with. So now they cant get the remains of the key out, SOooooooooooo they have to order me a new one and it should get here earliest monday... *yeay* im gonna make them bend over backwards for this one!! its ironic that more damage was done DURING the repair than the actual repair itself! so if your in my area, feel free to steal my car... not like its gonna stop you. (the car can be started with a screw driver atm )

I would have come unglued! It would have taken everyone in that place to calm me down....you just don't do stoopid stuff like that......man that makes me ILL

Sorry to hear about that...make sure you tell a few friends about the work they did, like people you don't even know....the question bears asking to them "What, did you think they were being serious when they said 'put the key in and turn the car over'?" C'mon how hard is it???

Sheesh....sore subject for me...gotta walk away...resist temptation of blowing up shop..........

DAmn that sucks, I hate other people working on my car. It seems like everytime I take my car to someone they screw something up. Heck, when I was on vacation in TN. I took my car to Walmart for an oil change and they broke my dipstick.
I wouldnt even let them fix it, I called Ford and ordered one myself, and threw it in before I headed home to Chicago.

You have a 2.0L cougar with a turbo??? What year is it? Is there something you're not telling us? I know that there are some cougars out there with zetec's in them, but I've not heard of anyone bolting on a turbo kit.

i downloaded video of a zetec cougar with a turbo (homemade kit) maybe it was ctec's. but they are out there.

Dude you should have said something to me about needing an oil change, I would have done that or given you the tools so you could've while you were here.
