I've got 4 cans so I'm set. All I need now is time.
I've lurked these boards for awhile now. Read most everyone's horror stories and triumphs. All I can say is, even in bone stock form, this engine continues to amaze me.
Rolled 112k comming back from Hilton Head and this car seems as smooth and potent as the day I bought her. Was doing 90-100 the whole way back, with the AC on (hate running that thing).
Something strange the other morning though. Working nights and driving north out of Atlanta in the morning makes for some fast and unpopulated hauling. Opened her up a little and it seemed like I hit a wall at 110. Granted I don't get there that often, but it did seem weird.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a speed limiter on these guys that's set to 112 MPH, so 110 ain't all that far away from what to expect

the SVT's limiter is at 143...not that i would know that from personal experience or anything! hehe
what gear were you in when you hit 110? if you wer in 4th you might have hit the redline, but i thought you could get at least 120 outta 4th gear

A couple of little copper brushes or dremel tools...and lotsa elbow work (based on how many miles).
For example...the actual tear down/re-install took me 3 hours. The scrubbing/brushing/cursing/temper tantrum took me 6 hours!!! Its a PITA for sure...
Yeah! What he said!! mcgainer must've been with me yesterday when I did the job!
46K, mostly local, miles on mine (wife's car, not a heavy foot). The UIM/LIM/Head ports had almost 1/32" of granulated carbon crud caked on them, the nylon bushing connecting to the IMRC vacuum activator was gone, my fingers hurt like hell from pulling the injectors from the fuel rail (which was a real b**ch, thank goodness I have fuel line separator tools so I didn't have to do this work under the hood!), the o-rings were a little soft and tore easily AND, it took a friend & me 6+ hours to scrub the parts clean! Went through 4 cans of spray Berryman's, 2 gal of Xylene for soaking, 6 brass bristle "toothbrushes" & my rather morally upstanding neighbor won't talk to me anymore because of my colorful language (J/K). Dis-assy & assy was relatively easy at less than 1 hour each. Doing this job at 15K mi would've been a hell of a lot easier!!
Now, having pi$$ed and moaned, what a difference in performance! No lagging or bogging, no slow speed bucking at throttle application, much better cold engine driveability and MUCH more power. Lance's procedure was right on the money - thank you much Lance! Wish I'dve known about this a long time ago!!
One disturbing note is that I discovered a few small slit-like cracks in the hardened insulation of individual wires in the injector harness under the UIM, right where they separate into 2 branches before connecting to the injectors. The rest of the harnesses and wires in the engine compartment are still in good shape, with no signs of deterioration, and if it use the criteria for the replacement validation, it looks like Furd wouldn't go for warranty re-harnessing - damn! Anybody here had experience with dealing with them on this issue?

I was in fifth. I didn't leave it there long enough to see if I could push past it.
If it's not raining here in Atlanta Sat. morning, I'll give it another shot going home. Let you know what happens!

So after reading this post, i have a question, is it possible to use the post 98 injectors in a pre 98 lower intake manifold. I have a 2000 and i found an older manifold that i was planning on machining out for bigger bores and secondaries. will it work on my returnless system

No....Post 1998 injectors were designe (most around 5/99) for cars with the returnless system. Pre-98 injectors were desinged for cars with the Return System. There is a clolor coating for it too....Greens for Returnless and Orange is for Return...(i think )

thanks but that wasn't my question, i know the difference in the injectors, i wanted to know if the manifolds were interchangeable. according to Demon SVT in another thread, they are, but after reading this thread i am not certain.

The SVT has no speed limiter. The vehicle is drag limited, meaning that the air drag will keep it from going faster than 143 unless the horsepower is increased.
