Here is my situation:
In 9/2000 I purchased my new Contour SVT, the car ran well and everything else. I have been trying to sell the car and buy an SUV or a truck to pull a boat with. I took my car to Ford a couple months back for a squeak in the suspension and a missing tilt steering lever. They had the car for about a week (this was 2 months ago). Last weekend I heard a tapping at 4000+ RPM. And made an appointment to drop the car off last monday, they have had the car since. They are putting in a brand new motor and rebuilding the tranny. The suspension still squeaks. I talked to Ford this morning (they have now had my car for one week). They are not expecting to receive the new motor until "maybe" Thursday. They are doing nothing for me as far as having another car to drive, I got the tough luck attitude. I think a realistic time table says that I won't have a car for about another 2 weeks. I was trying to sell my car privately, but how much leverage would I have on trading the car in now, especially with all the problems I've had. All input is welcome

Dude, you'd be selling your car with a BRAND NEW ENGINE! Bite the bullet and wait to sell it privately. Your re-sale value should be much higher than normal.
