Spent Easter Sunday with my cousin installing my turbo kit. Aerocharger Stage II. Finally done, no serious injuries!
Cousin works for a Midas and talked his boss into letting us use the shop on Sunday.. so we had about a dozen lifts and every tool under the sun at our disposal. I had bought a Focus cat, exhaust manifold, and the pipe that goes from the cat to the flex pipe under the car. We installed the cat and manifold on my car (the Aerocharger doesn't use a "normal" turbo manifold if you are unfamiliar with their setup..
http://www.aerocharger.com/focuspix.htm ), then cut off most of that pipe.. we only needed about a third of it to reach the Aerocharger turbo, and we figured it would be easier to do it that way, than making custom flanges and stuff. Contour's parts are different and would have required too much fabrication for my tastes, so I decided to use what I knew would work.
Anyways, it all went just fine. No real problems, cept for liberal use of "Dubya Dee" on my exhaust manifold to get it off the car. We finished up most everything last night, cept for getting the guages (boost, A/F, and oil temp) installed. I took it easy on the drive home, didn't wanna break anything on the maiden voyage. Got on it a wee bit on the way to school, but since it's such a short drive the car never really got a chance to warm up so I could whail on it. But on the way home a little while ago.... Yeehaw! This sum***** is sooooo much faster! Turbo lag? What turbo lag!?!?
My cousin's roommate has a G-TechPRO, and I had borrowed that to do a couple of runs down a little country road not too far away. If I posted the times, you wouldn't believe em. So I had to take some pictures of the thing when I was done. Here they are:
