I have searched a couple of times, without luck. I have a 99 contour SE v6 ATX, with a problem I have never seen or heard of. I cannot figuire it out at all. here it is
My mom noticed this first then asked me what it was.(for reference as to how noticable it is)
When ever you rev the engine to 2500 or more there is a very noticable whine. This happen in neutral or any gear. I have check the intake side, and I do not believe it has anything to do with the exhaust, as it is not air-flow dependent. (I had the car at WOT at 4,000 and at 4000 no throttle, same sound). From this logic, I have deduced that is in the engine, or something connected to it, ie pulleys, water pump, bearings. The car has 105,000 and is 3.5 years old. This maybe a simple problem for some old school mechanics, or it might be something highly technical, I do not know.
The waterpump has not been replaced. The weather was much warmer two days ago, and maybe it just gave up the ghost.
Any help you have would be very nice
