I'm thinking of getting a direct TV set-up with Tivo. Does anyone have either product? If so, how do you like them?

I have a ReplayTV with regular cable, but my buddy has a DirecTivo unit. Once you use it, you'll never watch TV the same way again. Seriously.

I've used DirecTV for a few years and have a Tivo/DirecTV unit as well. About the only thing I can criticize about it is the slight delay when channel surfing between channels, other than that it's great. The model I have has DD out (optical) and a 2nd input so you can watch one program and record another. The picture quality of DirecTV is quite good and it's near impossible to tell what is recorded from what's live.

Don't believe the hype they tell you about not being able to get reception in bad weather. In my last place the only time I remember not being able to get reception was when the snow was so deep that it covered the entire dish! Unfortunately, at my current place I don't have a clear view of the southern sky (even from the roof ) so I have to use Digital Crapple here. Consiquently I don't use my Tivo any more (or any of my other normal DirecTV receivers), if you are interested in buying them drop me a PM, or if you have any more questions about DirecTV or Tivo you could send me a PM for that as well.

HTH,
Pete
