I recently had my serpentine belt changed. Now I get a sound like an alternator whine from that side of the engine. I know its not the stereo because all the speakers are removed right now as I'm doing some work on the doors.

Any thoughts on how to cure it? Could it be a tension adjustment? Or as my father suggests any time there's something wrong under the hood "it just needs some belt dressing!"

Not sure if the duratec is a similar set up but my zetec was doing the same thing. Turned out to be the timing belt tensioner pulley bearing and one idler pulley bearing completely shot.

My bearings are fine but my new belt sounds like a supercharger. Check the pulleys and bearings and if they are fine it's probably the belt. Put the old one back and try it! I did.

What kind of belt did you go with? I put a polley cog belt on and it sounds the same way.. The polley cogs will do that for almost all cars and I think it sounds awesome
