Anyone tried using the aresol spray dynomat to help seal sub enclosures? Did it work well?

Air leakage in a sealed enclosure isn't a big problem if the box is built right in the first place. Some caulking (liquid nails, silicone, etc...) along the joints would be the best bet. Also make sure you pre-drill holes for the screws the sub is mounted with. If the holes are not predrilled you may get some air leakage around the sub, since the surface will warp as the screw goes in.

I usually lay a small round foam gasket around the inside edge of the sub to prevent leakage as well.

IMHO its not worth the money to buy dynomat just to use inside a sub enclosure. But then again, its your money.

For a cheaper solution, use rubber undercoating. It works pretty good.

The aerosol sound deadner would not be a good sealant IMHO. Liquid nails along the seams should be all you need. If you have a speaker "cup" (terminal box on an enclosure) those leak very often, you may want to double check it has a gasket around it. Window weather stripping works great (1/4") Use that on your subs mounting lip as well if you do not have a carpted mounting surface.

Where can one get rubber undercoating? I'd liek to seal up my trunk nicely and economically when the time comes.

You can get it at most automotive supply places. The rubberized undercoating is used to coat the outside/underside of vehicles. It is STINKY! If you enjoy the asphault smell on a hot day in your car, by all means go ahead and spray your trunk with it.

Otherwise stick with the more professional products. Some of the "ice guard" rubber products aren't too bad. They sometimes lack adhesive and need a bit of 3M spray stuff to stick well.

I just installed 35ft^2 of Brown Bread into my front doors. It doesn't smell at all. And it sticks like dog poo on shoes.

You might also want to check out Raammat, it comes highly recommended on audio forums and has many of the same qualities of brown bread at a lower price.
