OK, '95 Contour LX V6ATX 70K miles. Just spent a whole bunch of money putting a new tranny in the car and now the thing's failing again. And ever since I had the tranny replaced the engine has run rough. So, while contemplating the upcoming battle over the transmission I thought I'd do a compression test. Well guess what? A bad cylinder!! Because of the circumstances that I had the tranny replaced I know it'll cost me a hugh amount of time and money again, even though I'll probably get the tranny replaced under warranty.

So, I'm thinking that buying a junked car (something totaled from behind?) and doing a sub-frame and up swap - motor, tranny, the whole thing.

My question is: what year/models are "compatible" with my 95 LX?

The 95's are unique re vac operated secodaries etc & wiring. If the engine is the main problem any non svt 2.5 will fit the bill and swap manifolds & engine wiring harness over.....

Terry, should one replace the manifolds and wiring harness as you instructed as a matter of course during an engine swap just to be safe or are those items different for every model year 2.5 Duratech and MUST be replaced for things to work properly? Specifically I'm wondering about my swap of a 96 2.5 for a 97 2.5. The more information I can arm my engine shop with, the more confident I'll feel. Thanks.
