Took my car in for "warranty" work today, heat shield around exhaust vibrating on top of pipe, rear control arms bent (don't konw how). These two things not covered. Dealer says I must have road over something in the road to cause the damage to rear control arms?? I was like other than pot hole haven't hit any curbs or large objects sooo??? Still claim I did it. On the heat shield the bolts broke thru the metal which dosen't seem to be the strongest. But still I must have hit some thing to mess it up soo bad. How do I hit the heat shield when it is up around the exahust pipe??? I don't know. So sorry for the rant but just hate that crap. What is warranty? Sounds like a special ford term that has no real definition. O well out $400 yay

Might as well tack on another $55.00 for the FEA while its there or your going to ruin those brand new tires

One of my rear control arms got bent as well and JD made me pay $75 for the visual inspection just to tell me that. But, it would go towards the $325 repair bill at least. But if I replaced it myself and brought it back, that $75 would not go towards an alignment which was $90. I bought the part for $28 and took the car to Belle Tire for a $45 alignment. Then I sold the car so I didn't have to deal with Ford Customer Service for the remaining 3.5 years and 75k miles.

There is no way the manifold heat shield could have been caused by road damage. The rear trailing links/arms... they don't bend by themselves, so those wouldn't be covered.

Jerome Duncan need persuading, ask to talk to the Service MANAGER. That's what I did when they didn't want to fix my 3rd gear grind in my tranny.

One old fart service advisor who drove it said it wasn't there, which was total BS. I said if you shift quick it grinds every time. His answer was "Well don't shift it quick then..."

I told him that if I didn't want to shift quick I would not have bought an SVT, a performance vehicle a dn would be driving a windstar instead. After getting into a yelling match, the service manager came out, tokk it for a drive down the street and back and agreed to repair it. Once they got it open it need the 3rd gear synchro and gear, and the 4th gear synchro and gear, and a new diff! Surprise, surprise!
