Does anyone know of any recalls that have occured for our cars that involve the charging system shorting wires or any sort of wires grounding out that may have caused wiring harnesses to short out and fry? The reason I am asking is cause my car is dead now and Ford wants 3 to 4K in just parts to fix all the wiring harnesses that have burned out. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

there is a recall on the 96 contour for the wiring harness, the warranty is for 10 yrs. 100,000 miles instead of the old
3 yrs. 36,000 miles on it due the problems with the under hood wiring harness... go to your dealer with the vin. number and get them to check it... the problem is that the insulation is breaking on all of the wires under the hood and in your case it might just be shorting out.....

I will definatly take the VIN to the dealer when I get back. (stuck out here in Kuwait right now) I guess I should have posted the fact that it is a 98 SVT and the FAQ post is for a different year than mine so that is why I posted even though I saw the post about the underhood wiring problems.
