I just purchased a '96 Tour w/ MTX Ztech and a standard cluster. I want to swap out the standard cluster with one with a tach. I have seen several on e-bay, but I am not sure which one will work. Will a Mystique cluster work in a Tour? And what years are interchangable (besides the '95 cable driven won't work in any other year.) Does it matter if it is a V6 or I4, MTX or ATX?

I have done several searches but come up with nothing specific. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

It has to be a cluster from a 1996,1997, or a 95 thats not cable driven. If you get a post 98 one the speedo won't work and your gas gauge will work backwards.
I found mine for $45.00 shipped from http://www.car-parts.com from a junkyard in TN.

beyondloadedse has done a post98 cluster (svt guages) with a pre98, he said it was plug and play pretty much. He said that everything worked fine. might want to look him up and send him a pm. Cause it will work.

differnace it he has a Zetec and I can tell you it would work with the Zetec the speedo and the fuel gauge won't work on a pre 98 Zetec. tach and engine temp will though.

from what i have heard if you clip just the ground and positive wire, you just flip them around and it won't read backwards anymore. Easy fix, I have done it on a escort however. Haven't had any problems with it.

sounds like a good idea...but what about miles

having the wrong miles on the car would be annoying to me

well, if the speedo says 130 top speed. well just pop out the old speedo and put it in your new set. works fine. Sometimes there is little modification to do. But nothing anybody here can't figure out.

As for miles, I have read it is not too tuff to swap odometers. So that does not concern me at the moment.

Right now I am looking at purchasing a '99 Mystique cluster. If I do so, from what I have read in the post, I have to swap two wires? The guy does not now if it is from an ATX or MTX, so does that matter? I believe it is from an I4 sense there is no V6 on the Tack. Is this correct?

Thanks for your responses so far!
