I'm curious...I'm trying to order a replacment fuel pump from BAT and they said that the pump component set they sell isn't compatible with the SVT....It seemed like I was talking to a secretary so I wasn't sure if that was true...if so what are the differences?

Also where have you guys bought replacement pumps from?

You where probably talking to Annastacia, The pump they sell is for the return style fuel system, I don't think it generates the same lbs of pressure as the one required for the returnless system, I do believe they intend to try it on a returnless system to check compatibilty, maybe they have and found it doesn't work peoperly.

Yea...I have a 98 thus return style not returnless...and they specifically have 2 different part numbers for a returnless/return style.

My questions is what is the difference between an SVT return style Fuel Pump and a reg.(SE..etc) return style fuel pump?

She said it said they were not for SVT in the catalog but it was worded kinda funny so I wasn't sure if thats actually what they meant?

Anyone order one before?

I don't know if this will help, but maybe others who have used the BAT pump can chime in with their experiences.

I have a 99 Cougar with returnless. The pump BAT sent me wasn't a direct replacement for my Cougar. Well, the pump was, but the filter sock they sent wasn't. I had to clean my old sock and reuse it. The sock they sent looks like the one in the picture on the BAT site. There is a port in the middle of the sock that attaches to the bottom of the pump, making the pump look like an upside down 'T'. My sock had the port at one end, and IIRC did a 180 and made the sock stand parallel to the pump, like a 'U'.

Hopefully someone with a regular Duratec and someone with an SVT who have replaced their pumps can say what their socks look like. My thinking is maybe the Cougar and SVT share the 'U' sock, while the Contours with regular Duratec's have the 'T' sock, and BAT only has the 'T' socks, so they say they won't work with the SVT, and don't know that the Cougar uses a different sock too. This is purely speculation though.

Thanks for the help....If I remember correctly my sock type is more of an L shape...but I could be mistaken and it could actually be a T shape.

I actually just bought a whole replacement pump w/ sender and everything for about $150 on the internet. Hopefully it will be the correct type. I'll keep this thread posted with the results.
