Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General Troubleshooting Recall on Right Head Gasket on Engine

In this Sundays paper in Kentucky Ford announced a recall on Ford trucks, 8 cylendars from 1999 and up stating that the right head gasket that was leaking was being recalled. Apparently they did not seal it correctly. Today I found out my 1998 Ford Contour is doing the same thing. Does anyone know if this has been recalled. I just spent 709.00 to replace a sensor/thermostat/and a water pump and not 24 hours later the "check engine light" is on again. I spent another 47 today 20 of which was for an oil change and the rest was connecting hoses and putting clamps they left off. I plan to go there and raise some you know what. Every time I turn around it cost me money. So if anyone knows of the recall please let me know because if I have to fix this its 800.00. Thanks

Sorry to hear about your troubles! Try doing a search on here for this, and see what you get. Personally I never heard of a head gasket recall for the 'tours... Good luck, and give them hell!

The two engines are not related.It sounds like you had a bad waterpump (re overheating) and may have,because of that overheating,a blown head gasket...this happens a lot and is due to the w/pump failure...
