Just like the title. I plan on doing a Vortech within the next few months, and I will be upgrading the clutch and flywheel. My question is if I do not plan on drag racing from a stop would you still recommend LSD?

Thanks in advance

Oh, and what other major components would you recommend?

I'd recommend the LSD to anyone. I'm the one wheel hopping wonder at the drag strip. You can get away with totally stock transmission and clutch, but you soon realize all the power you have that you can't take advantage of. I'd do it before the S/C too. Otherwise you have to take the whole thing off to get the tranny out.

It is not required but I would recommend it. There are a few on these boards still with stock diffs, and as long as you take care of it, it will hold up fine. But to really enjoy the new power I would get one.

Having said that, wheelhp is the real danger and that can happen any time a slow speeds. A little too much power in a corner, spinning in the wet, etc. I blew my stock diff with wheelhop while running a 50 shot of nitrous. The blower adds 100+ so you decide It is great peice of mind.

I like to bang gears and take my car to the track, so in my case it is required

Nothing else is needed that is not included in the kit.

You will want the LSD. The SC makes the front break loose pretty fast on mine. I just ordered a SPEC III clutch, DMD and Quaife from www.spmotorsparts.com this morning. I wanted a flywheel too but ran out of money....

however if you just want a LSD, PM "Flechaautosports" on the CEG board, he has the cheapest price that I could find, but doesn't sell the clutch I wanted or a DMD

The only two options for an LSD are the Torsen and the quaife.
Personally, I like the Torsen, because it has a higher bias ratio, but either one should be fine for you. The Quaife should be available from any Quaife dealer (try www.quaifeusa.com ) which should include BAT, and Haines Motorsports. The Torsen should be available through any Ford Motorsport dealer or the FRPP catalog, though few would likely have it in stock. Perhaps Rick will see this and point you to a good Torsen retail outlet . . .

Chris (Keyser) or StreetFlight is a torsen dealer so he can order them though they are a few dollars more than a quaife. Same warranty I think.

I got my quaife through Performance Fords and (I believe) I paid less than anyone else so far. Very cheap. I thought so anyway. Plus I like their customer service.

I think the planetary gearing on the Torsen's allows for a faster/stronger (tough to explain higher bias) transfer of power from the wheel that's gripping to the wheel that's slipping.

I didn't know about this, and alas, have a quaife I got brand new off of ebay for $540. It'll be installed this Friday. YEAH!
