Good you're all fixed up, but to close out this topic can you tell us what fuse under dash was the culprit?
Best to take exhaust problem to any muffler shop.

the shop didnt specify the type of fuse but i know it was 15 watt...

I'd bet it was brake light fuse, if so they would not have been working either during your problems. Hazards are on separate fuse as they operate without ignition on.
Sometimes blown fuses can only be caught reliably with ohmmeter or continuity checker as they appear ok visually. FYI.

well... were back at sqaure one... we were driving the car today and went to use the turn signal and it didnt work... we brought the car home and the back up lights dont work and there is no power going to the cd player... the car goes back to the ford dealership again monday... frown

The signals & blower fan are powered inside the car with a 15 amp fuse thats supposed to be labeled as such. Our manual shows that loaction as back-up lights. Blew 4 fuses onna Sat, took to Ford Dealer on Monday and it won't blow a fuse at all! #%%^& They gave me a copy of a service note about replacing the under-hood 60 amp fuse with an 80 amp fuse. Not sure about this though as it for SOME Contours with particular ABS systems - NOT ALL. Whether this allpies to us or not I don't know, and the fuse is a pain to change because its not a push in fuse, you have to somehow pull up the panel and access nuts. THe fuse resembles a molar in shape and has metal legs which slip onto studs and then the nuts are tightened. SOunds OK, bit try to get it out far enough to get a wrench on it!

Well for what its worth here are my comments/questions.

What fuse did you replace 4 times?

Not all circuits fed by fuse are listed in owner's manual and yes there can be errors. I have '97 wiring diagrams and they are not error free either.

My wiring diag shows either 60 or 80 ABS fuse depending on type of ABS but doesn't say which is for which. I have 60amp in both cars, don't know which ABS system I have, but have had no problems todate.

Heater blower requires 2 fuses to work. One is feed to motor I referred to in earlier post, the other is feed to controlling relay. This latter fuse feeds other circuits (signals, back-up)

Have you had heater resistors replaced yet?

You have now answered my earlier, why a pain question, thanks.

Since you have dealer involved we'll wait for further post.

Edit: p.s. If I was trouble shooting this one I would pull blower relay out of dash fuse panel to isolate that circuit, exterior lights are more important.
