I've got about 130.000 miles on my Zetec. I am not sure when my timing belt was last changed, if ever, bought the car with 80.000 miles on it.

The belt looks in great condition though, no cracks that I can see.

I don't want to get stuck on the road somewhere so I figured I'd ask you guys how long they usually last....

thanks,
Thomas

83k is when I replaced it. Other work was being done, so just had the shop change it. It still looked okay.

at 75,500. no problems yet. by looking at it, i would say the pulley will need replaced before the belt.

I changed mine at 104k and it had been tapping the cover for awhile. the belt was fine but the pullies were shot. they are only plastic ans the edges wore down since the pully is cupped in the center. caused the belt to ride on the from of the cam gears. also my tensioner was about to crack in half.

At 55K, my belt was fine but I already had a ruined pulley.

but mine does make that slapping noise on cold starts. also the fan clutch is acting up again... should i be worried about that belt slapping the cover?
