I've looked through the Forums, but I can't find anyone with front rotors as stuck as mine.

At 66k I'm installing my second set of replacement pads.
I've seen reluctant rotors before, but these take the prize. I've sprayed, wacked, pried and heated them with MAPP gas. All the while trying to take care of the front wheel bearings.
One is still on, and going on 3 days.

Any advice?

I've never met a rotor that didn't yield to a good hammering. Put one lug back on (for safety, to keep it from flying), give the rotor surface (not the hub) a good thrashing with a heavy hammer. On the inside face is most efficient, but the outside is easier. The bearing will be fine. Worked every time for me...

How about using a pulley puller or slide hammer.

hope this helps..

I was hitting the disks with a sledgehammer and all I managed to do was break bits off. When we used the propane torch, we go them hot enough so they smoked a little, then we still had to wail on them to get them to budge.

Good luck.

Same here. I'm knocking chunks out of the casting.
I can't get them hot enough to bust the rust either. Seems there's just too much iron for me to heat it with a lowly torch.

We'll back to it tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Thanks.

If you are doing a hub bearing remove the whole knuckle with the rotor and press it off...or spray it with CLR to dissolve the rust a bit!
