I have a question about my power distribution.

First of all I have a Pioneer Deck - DEH-P6400
A Sony Amp - (1000W) - XM-2165GTX
A JL Audio - 12" - W3v2

My question is, my wiring is hella shotty. When I turn the stereo up past 20 (not very loud) it will either play for a little while and then cut out, it will turn back on if I turn the volume down though. Or, the amp will go into protection mode and turn itself off. Is it my wiring or is it something else?
By the way, this 1 12" pounds hard and is actually blown but still works awesome. (I have a new Sub on the way, the new Sony pentagonal)

Thanks for any help in advance

I'm not sure about the new jl model lingo, but it sounds like a single 2 ohm vc sub. If your amp can't handel the 2 ohm load it would turn off or go into safe mode. The impedance may have gotten screwed up because the sub is blown too. Check your impedance (amp stability and sub.

Just a heads up

If you smoked your W3v2 with your amp thats peice of [censored] sony sub won't last 2 mins..

As far as the amp problem. Is the Sub dual or single voice coil? it could be a shorted voice coil. I ripped the tinsle leads out of one of my Old w3's before and it send my amp into protect instantly.

This happend to my friend and the way it was fixed was a new sub cuze he had blown the other one. This sounds like the same problem you have so a new sub will fix it i am guessing.

Steeda -

Its a dual voice coil sub, and I think you are right, that one of the voice coils is blown. I understand about the Sony sub not lasting as long as the JL, but the amp I was running when I got the JL was a piece of crap, its ok though I will put the JL back in if the Sony blows
