As far as I know, No V6 cougar ever came with more than 170HP, and weighs in a 3200#. Wouldn't even be a fair fight against a celica with 175 wHP and at least 500# less.

sorry, can't see it.
I can see a good running SVT tie it, or take it with some of its midrange power, be not a stock cougar.

You might be able to take it. The 2002s had their fuel cut-out reduced to 7800 rpms so they fall out of lift on the shift. 2003 and pre-2002 were at 8350rpms. If he has one of those, you're probably toast.

I dunno if it was the driver or not but i've race one before with my friend in the car and about 1/4 way through 3rd he was looking at my tail lights and he did have a six speed. But their was another time before I got really good with my shifting that he took me by two car lenght.

Ah yes - I forgot about that. '02s had a lowered rev-limiter. If it's an '02, your chance of victory just increased.

They must have changed something from 2000-2001 year, the GTS was prety even with a CSVT (C&D had the GTS at like 15.6 IIRC) the 02's are pretty impressive with 14's. I would have never guessed they were that fast. Those dyno plots look horrid, nice torque.....

Part of the reason C&Ds times are slow is they shift at redline. They won't exceed it and if they do they won't mention the time they ran. To get the best times out of those cars, you have to be deep into the red. If they fall out of lift they are turtles.

I have personally driven the 01 Celica and they aren't impressive at all if they aren't above 6k they are turds. I used to have 98 CSVT with no mufflers, KKM & a crappy Superchip (< caused it to detonate top end) and I took a GTS from a roll a stop you name I dug him usually by about 2 cars, They just ain't got the torque.

Thanks guys. C&D has my car at 0-60 in 6.9, 1/4 mile at 15.4 at 91mph and the celica in 2002 is 0-60 at 7.3 and 1/4 mile at 15.6 at 89mph. So according to car and driver I should win, unless like mentioned before I screw up my 2nd to 3rd shift which is easy to do. So I think I can take him. And if I don't, I will have to practice until I do.
