I am replacing my power antenna which got broken off. I purchased a Metra AW-PW22 and have it installed except the wiring. I have only three wires (other than the antenna) coming out of the new Metra power antenna: Blue, Red, Black.
But my 98 Mystique has: Black, Blue with red stripe, Purple with blue stripe, Blue with white stripe, Orange with blue stripe. Now I am assuming black goes with black, but other than that I am totally lost! The Metra manual was absolutely no help whatsoever. Thank You

black would probley be the ground
I'm guessing the blue is a remote.
and the red is constant.
heres what yah do. get a dc power stester (2 wires and a small light if you don't no)
use a paper clip the is bent straight and go to the connector. one by one stick the paper clip in the diffrent holes with the car off. touck the paper one wire of the tester and ground the other side, This will give you the constant.with 4 wires there may be more then one constant.
document witch wires have power and don't have power
do the same with the car on to the holes that had no charge before. This will give you a remote.
after that just connect the wires.
I would wait till someone comes around and says it this would work or not.

Frankly, you might have found it easier/cheaper just to buy replacement mast at dealer or complete unit at wrecker.
Here's the wire functions at the connector to the antenna module:
Black, - Ground
Blue with red stripe, - Radio
Purple with blue stripe, - Ignition (hot in run)
Blue with white stripe, - power (hot in acc and run)
Orange with blue stripe. - power (hot at all times)
There is also the W/BL (-up,+dn) and Y/BL (+up,-dn) that go to the antenna motor.
Your after market replacement should have come with instructions on how to connect.

The replacement was only $40. The instructions say connect the blue to the blue and the red to the red pretty much! And as I didn't know which of my car wires was which, I stopped there before I blew something up!

So if I connect the constant wire to the Blue with white stripe (hot in acc and run), and the other wire to the radio (blue with red stripe), would that work then? Thanks for your help.

My guess: red - hot at all times (orange) blue - radio black - ground
Antenna needs power to retract even with key off.

I found that out this morning after having connected everything - turned the key off and it didn't retract! So I will change the power to the always on connection and that should be good. Otherwise it is working like a charm. Thanks for everyones help.
