Hey all,

I posted a while back about a grind that occured intermittently when I shifted from first to second. I was assured that if the tranny cocktail or tranny fluid replacement didn't work, it was likely my synchro going. Well, I've had the tranny out and the second gear assembly replaced. At that time I also had the clutch replaced. Does anyone have any other suggestions about what it might be?

Thanks!

Well,

I saw the hardware they took out, and I wasn't charged for the labour on the clutch replacement. I also have the invoice with all of the part numbers replaced.

Next?

They should have change *1st/2nd gear syncro hub*1st and 2nd gear blocker rings*that should be 7 parts in all as first and second gear have 3 part blocker assy's..

Hmm... is it possible that when second gear grinds its the times you forget to push in the clutch pedal? :p laugh

seriously, I'd run it by Ford again and complain about it. It is entirely possible they didn't replace all the necessary components.

Mine does that in 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th when the tranny is cold and the tranny was rebuilt half a year ago. It's worse when I pulled the left side CV shaft and had to top off with just ATX fluid and no friction modifier. I guess I'm going to change the fluid again.
