I have had an engine and tranny replaced at the dealer in the past. I was looking around...possibly doing some mods. I have my battery assembly out and the airfilter/mass air flow sensor out. I looked down and notice this plug just laying there, so I looked harder and noticed that the socket for it is right there....what is this thing?

Sorry about that large pic...I just wanted it to be as detailed as possible:

Nevermind, I figured it out... I looked in my service manual (thanks to the groupbuy! ) It's for the backup lights.

That explains why they have not worked since I had the tranny replaced...

LMAO!! I plugged it back in, and finished my mods (wow)...but my backup lights still don't work. Maybe that's why the dealer left it unplugged in the first place.
