Suddenly last night I started noticing that when I try to shift gears, the shifter feels much looser than normal.
When it finds a gear, it seems to engage perfectly, and there is no problem driving. But once it's in a gear, there is a whole lot more play side to side than there used to be.
And getting it into first gear now requires that I smack it hard to the left gate, and then it slides right up and into first. Second isn't as stubborn, and engaging the higher gears seems to go much better.
But the side-to-side play is in every gear.
I've only had the car a week, so I'm not sure yet what my extended warranty covers. I'm sure I'll find out when I take it to the dealership.
But if any of you have already had a similar problem, I'd appreciate hearing about it before I get told how many thousands of dollars the repair will cost me and why.
