my 96 se with the v6 duratec is making a new engine noise. there is a little high pitch whine to the engine that gets faster and higher as the engine revs.

has anyone ever heard of this? mybe a bearing in the belt pulleys

that or one of the other accessories.

One way to figure out if its one of the pulleys or an accessory is to take the belt off and start the engine for a short time and see if you still hear the sound.

Bearings might be going in the alternator... It just happened to mine.. Alternator $= $200-250 Install $= $200-250 also... GOOD LUCK - JOE
