Not sure if any of the folks here saw my thread on the NECO forum, but I thought the Contique folks might be interested:

I took a trip from Denver to Phoenix and back again last weekend. I've compiled all my stats and posted them to my web page. For those of you curious about the DTEC Tuning CDW-27 V6 heat shield and it's abilities, I think there's some pretty good info in there.

Also, I recorded some other stats while I was on the trip including actual MPG as compared to the computer's MPG calculation. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions...

Good data!
I've got a shorter intake pipe on my waiting list, and my current heatsheild will take some re-working...I'm just going to get a Dtec heat shield.
Do you have the ceramic coating?

Good job making those charts and recording all that data. I'm now very glad that I ordered the dtec heatshield, and can't wait until it's on. I might have to conduct a similar experiment here in florida since it will be quite hot soon, and I drive in traffic everyday on my way to work.

Take some 2.5 in tubing and shove it thru the fender wall to the front of the car...mayb near the mesh up front...should make a difference.

I would have expected a greater difference than 17F = 10C. Perhaps some testing in the mid summer months will show better results.

Thanks to Jeremy for posting his info!

It's good to have some outside proof that our shield does reduce intake air temps even at highway speeds. This is something I noticed as well on my last CO to NY trip even in mid 20 degree ambient temps!
One thing that Jeremy's test does not show is how effective the shield is in stop and go or slower moving traffic. Sitting still for even 30 seconds can raise the temprature differential to 40+ degrees!
Chad and I are working on plotting IAT temps with some OBD scanning software on back to back drive cycles with and without the shield. This should show how effective the shield is during a stop and go driving cycle.
Once we get everything squared away with the OBD software we're using we'll upload the data to our website for everyone to check out.

Again thanks to Jeremy for taking the time to test our product and post his results for everyone to see!
