i have just rolled 70,000 miles and in the last 1,000 - 1,500 miles i have noticed this ticking sound on the top of the engine near the serpentine belt but under the upper intake manifold on the passenger side , near the back.....
any idea? could i possibly need a valve adjustment? or maybe a bad lifter????

I'm sure it is the injectors. Mine has done it since i bought it. Take a long screw driver and put it up to your ear and put it on the injectors. Or what ever else you think it might be. You should be able to pin point the noise.

I think he would have noticed the injectors before hand. I am almost positive it's a lifter. Horse has a ticking sound that he got about a couple weeks ago and it's a lifter.

This sounds familiar...mine made the [roughly] the same noise... it was exactly in time with the serp belt. Replaced the belt and noise disappeared. Hope it is something simple like this. ZZZ.

i'm really puzzled by this b-cuz i just had my belt changed, injectors cleaned, new plugs, wires, tune up...about 15,000 miles ago...i think it is a lifter or my valves...after driving home from work today the whole top of the engine was making this sound.......another thing about the timing chain ( chrisroot ) i get this wrasping noise on morning start ups but never after the car has been started once...only after it has sat for awhile....maybe this info may help out....thanks for the responses...please keep them coming...
