I'm willing to bet that even though it's done by wire that it is using the same spot as the Speedometer cable. I just don't see Ford changing the casting for just that.
In the case of the CD4E, a rebuild includes REPLACING the valve body. The Aluminum cast of the original valve body is so soft that the valve bores wear prematurely.
There are differences in the CD4E Solenoid resistances and the PCM in the 95 model year, that weren't carried forward into the 96 and later years. There were also many revisions made to the CD4E after the 95 model year.

get a completely rebuilt CD4E with all updated parts. Make sure you get the 95 solenoid or whatever it is roadrunner mentioned. I believe the newer can work, but fails quickly on a 95. Add the filtertek (i think?) inline filter and a tranny cooler, and use synthetic ATX fluid, it'll last a lifetime then. A shift kit and/or chip wouldn't hurt either. I realise this car isn't your show car, but it doesn't hurt to have it be nice and last as well.

Filtertek manufacturers the latest sump filter for the CD4E transmission. It is designed in such a way, so that if the filter/screen were to be blocked with large debris, it would not impede the flow of oil from the sump to the transmission pump. The previous sump filter did not have this ability and oil starvation was the cause of the transmission to fail, after very long internvals of very high speed driving.

I have a 95 v6. It sound like if you have a 95 you would have to spend 2500 for a good rebuild or junk the car.I don't think this car will run without a speedometer cable. I think I'll just burn this piece of junk.
