I thought that if you put a dual muffler setup on a 4 cyl., then you would lose power?

I am reading all this stuff about people putting the SVT exhaust on their zetecs and loving it. How big is the exhaust pipes on the SVTs? I already have one magnaflow muffler on my car, but wanted duals. I also have the resonator removed, but still have the stock pipes to the back. Not sure how big the pipes are. But i have been looking into getting bigger pipes, just not knowing what to get. So if i order an SVT exhaust, could i buy another magnaflow muffler, and put them on the SVT Exhaust and it sound good and still keep the power, or gain power????

Thanks for the help and sorry for all the jibberish.

What do you mean? Keep the single outlet, just with 2.25 inch pipes from the cat?

I would like the look of duals magnaflows, but with 2.25 inch pipes?
So let me know what you mean

2.25" pipe is good enough for a non turbo Zetec. Just put a high flow resonator and mufflers.

yeah this is what I meant

its really up to you though, I mean anything is better than a stock exhaust so its really up to you...I guess its okay if you aren't getting true duals because I think thats a little too much for a 4 cylinder car...but if you are pretty much modeling the SVT exhaust except with bigger pipes than I guess you should be fine.

its all a matter of what you like, but me personally I'm staying with a single exhaust and probably 2.25"-2.5" pipes...

i really have no facts to say which one is better so I say go with what you like

BTW, where should i start the 2.25" piping. Do i get it cut off after the cat and start it there, then get the highflow cat where the original cat was?

Your original cat is in front of the engine. That might be costly to replace.

Yeah i understand that. I dont want to replace the cat, but the exhaust after the cat. So i was wondering if after that cat, cut the stock pipes off and replace with 2.25" pipes to the rear.

I think i might just keep a single exhaust setup and not dual, cause it sounds pretty good with my muffler now. Should fatter pipes (cat-back) make it louder or anything?
