ive got a knocing sound, coming fron the pass side of the engine, but it sounds like plastic, but it doesnt sound like a connecting rod or bearing, or any thing like that(ive had the expierence in other cars, with v8s, but never in any thing like this). im lost, and dont want to take everything apart just to find out i was wrong, so i was wondering if any one has ever herd of a timing belt tensioner going out, and what does that sound like

If you think it's coming from the serpentine belt area simply remove the belt and start the engine. If the noise goes away examine the accesories and idlers. I assume from your name you have a V6. If you have the I4 it may very well be timing belt slap. If so it usually goes away after a few minutes.

Kerry Chin from BC had a knock on the passenger side of his SVT. It didn't sound good, but it ended up being the idler pulley, I believe. It was definitely something on the accessory belt at any rate.
