Okay, if the tranny goes into safemode (blinking O/D light) and seems to be shifting at the right points while in the safemode. Does it mean the tranny is hosed or could it be an electrical problem (like a sensor or something)? When I first start the car and drive away the car revs real high and the only way I can get it to shift is let off the throttle and it shifts. Also while driving if I nail it hard or give it gas all the way, revs skyrocket and tranny slips, after about 5 to 10 mins of this it will go into safemode. This happens everytime. 96 sport 2.0 ATX. Any ideas would sure be appreciated. confused

Outside of making sure the fluid level is OK and clean, I'm not sure what the problem is. I've read that the valve body on the CD4E is weak, but I don't know where this came from. Sounds like valve body or possibly torque converter. If the tranny has not been serviced, a flush and fill wouldn't hurt.
