I am getting P0401 and P0402 codes on my SVT. I have changed the EGR and cleaned the TB/EGR Passages. The CEL has come back on again, after only about 5-10 miles. So now I am going to chagne the DPFE sensor...has anyone done this? Hard hard is it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, this thing looks like a pain to get to.

Not that hard to do. You will just need a little patience, since it is a little tight in that area of the engine.

You will need to remove a few hoses in order to get to it. Also, be careful not to drop any of the bolts down into the engine. You might want to have one of those flexible magnetic part retrievers (I have used mine many times ).

Also, make sure that you know which hose goes where (there are two hoses).

yea it's not that hard but holding on to those little bolts can be a pain in that area. Patience will be key and everything will go fine..its a small rectangular box with a plug in it.

Clean the EGR passages behing your TB too. The gunk might be throwing the codes.

It's spotless, I cleaned everything: EGR, Passages on the EGR and the passages on the UIM. I don't think it can get any cleaner...

The EGR Flow Excessive at Idle is probabbly the EVR or the EGR valve sticking. Pull the hose to the EGR and put a vacuum guage on it. There should be no vacuum at idle. If there is the EVR is bad.

I'm pretty sure it's not the EGR, since I have replaced it already. I had the old one tested after I pulled it out and it was fine. Where is the EVR, I've never even heard of it lol (hardly a mechanic.)

By the way, something I just thought of:

BEFORE I changed the EGR Valve I was getting the P0401 and P0402 Codes, along with some O2 Sensor code, can't remember which one. AFTER I changed the EGR Valve, and BEFORE I cleaned the passages it was not throwing the P0402 (EGR Excessive) anymore. After I cleaned the TB and passages it started throwing the P0402 code again.

EVR (EGR vacuum regulator) is located on firewall between coil pack and IAC (idle air control) valve. It is black, has a black round "hat" on top of it, two thin vacuum lines coming out the back, and an electrical connector. It is bolted to the top rear of the UIM. It's function is to open and close the EGR (via vacuum control).

FYI: It's a LOT easier to replace than the DPFE.
