It's much like the flu - very old people, very young children, or people that have an illness to begin with are at a higher risk.

Yeh, my Mom's retirement home in Brampton called yesterday to say they were restricting visitors until further notice. No cases yet, just to prevent any incoming bugs.

They were hit pretty hard with that Norfolk (sp?) flu late last year, 50/130 residents had it plus some of the staff.

Elderly tend to have less resistance, particularly if suffering from other ailments, and the close quarters/common dining area helps anything spread like wildfire.

my step mother works as a health nurse at a loal cair home for the handycap she told me all about it .....

to clear things up basicly its a viris strain from the common cold only much worse and more contegeous the people that are at a high risk of this sars viris are the elderly young infants and people with respritory problems to begin with like asma ...<i didnt spell that right

basicly any one who is in good health has a low risk of acualy getting it and causing harm on the other hand it is like getting a common cold or flu only worse and it can be spead very easly ...if some one does get it ...the viris usualy runs its corse up to 2-3 weeks and aventualy dies and leaves the human body

note :this comes from a regestered nurse not the so called media that over exploits every thing

It basically is a bad flu/cold virus so I would think that it would attack the eldery, young and people who already have a imunity deficiency to start with. Normally heathly people seem to be able to get over it.

In Simcoe county they have had 2 cases, treated them and sent them home in quarantine but they are at home and doing really well.

Unfortunately, the media mainly doesnt report on this stuff only on the people that die from it. This is why I think that the media only makes matters worse at times.

No kidding Laura.....where are the stats of the people who died from the Flu? More people die froma that every year than I would care to mention. The media is blowing this out of proportion a bit. Yes it needs to be contained and it is dangerous, but don't start mentioning things like Ebola and start counting the dying.

Long time no see here Chris.

Yes the media has also forgotten to report the Doctors that were in quarantine that are now going back to work. The National seems to be the only news that mentions these things.

This also reflects on our country and scares people away.
