I am going to sell a 100% stock 1999 SVT with 23,000 miles on it. This car is loaded and like new. I am wondering if other members can tell me what I should list it for.

I have looked it up in Kelly Blue book and it indicates that Dealer Retail would be $16,450 and Dealer Trade in is $12,050. Based on this, I am planning to ask $15,000. Is this car really worth that much? It is a fantastic car, but I would like to price it in a range which similar cars really have been selling.

I think that 15K is a very optimistic starting point.

These cars generally sold around 21K when brand new, and you're talking about an almost 4 model year old car. Not to mention that these cars are discontinued and generally considered unreliable. I'm guessing that your warranty just ran out too. You've got just about everything against you as far as resale. frown

If it were me, I'd be asking for 14K or best offer and hoping (very optimistically) for 13,XXX.

Check the classifieds and see what people are asking for similar cars to help you pick a starting point and your bottom line price.

Good luck,
-Colin

FWIW, I paid 12.5 for a '99 SVT with 26k on the clock last month. Guy was eager to unload it however.

the nada retail price for that car is 15700,wholesale or tradein is 12925, and loan value is 11950. the new car dealer will give you about 8500 for it and you should be able to sell it for around 13000. put it on auto trader for 12995. it is free and it will make my 2000 svt with 18000 miles look good at 13995!!! laugh

In june, I paid 13,900 for a 99 SVT with 50k miles on it. I thought the car was mint..minus a scratch in the side rear door. I think you'd be lucky to get 12k, but the miles are very low so that's a major plus! Start high and "negotiate"

forgot to mention i payed 13000 even for mine, it had 31000 miles which is not too bad but i think i got a good deal. i got it from a ford dealer; it still has to be brought back for waranty work and recalls but i knew that going in. otherwise its mint. i say good luck getting more than 12,500 from a smart shopper, maybe you can sell it to some chick for 15.

You're kidding, right? Take a look in the problems forum.

I'm at just over 50K with my only problem being a blown strut. SVT's (unmodified) seem to be pretty reliable when well maintained and not abused. The problem is that 99% of people out there don't even know they ever existed.
