Where were you guys today? Autocrossing?

I went to opening day at KCIR. I've never seen so many people there. There must have been well over 100 Pro-Mods there and 300 street cars. If you hadn't heard, the track has been completely redone. Traction was absolutely crap due to being brandnew, but the whole setup is awesome. Give it a few weeks and it will be hooking hard.

I finally got my ECU to take advantage of my new intake manifold. The ECU raises my fuel-cut to a much needed 7000rpms to take advantange of all the topend power.

1/4 tank of gas, stock 15" rims with all-seasons in the front, 17s in the rear, no spare, full interior. My best run:

60' 2.316
330' 6.211
1/8 9.398
MPH 77.09
1000 12.150
1/4 14.45
MPH 99.51

Woo hoo!!! and that was on a smoking hot motor!!!! If I can get my 60 foots back into lower 2.2 range like I was before the track was resurfaced, I should be able to hit a 14.2.

Mods:

modified stock airbox (no resonators, K&N filter panel)
JDM variable intake manifold
JWT ECU
Y-pipe
2001 Maxima muffler
UDP

Man son that some good trap speed. Some of us was at the autocross event. I for sure need to try the Nitto's out on the stang. Can't wait to try that new surface out. I am sure it is going to make quite the difference.

Thanks. The track is pretty slick rihgt now, but it should get better as the weeks "wear" on.

BTW, 4.10s in a mostly stock SOHC 4.6? Isn't that a little too much gear for a motor that makes peak power at 5200rpms? Or do you plan on running taller than stock slicks? I always thought 4.10s were the ideal street gears for the high winding 96-01 Cobra, not the SOHC 4.6. Maybe I'm wrong

Bring it. I'm not scared..............okay maybe a little.

I'll keep you guys posted when the "other" 4-door group will be venturing out to KCIR again.

Wow, nice new time...That rocks.

4.10's are a great gear for a N/A GT motor. FI mustangs go with a 3.73. The guys running mid 12's N/A are running 4.30 gears.

Thanks for the props.

4.10s are great for the N/A 99+ GT motor, huh? I would have never expected it. Years ago my college roommate had a red 90 LX 5.0 notchback with 3.73s, mufflers, UDPs, intake baffles removed, and advanced timing. To me, the car felt overgeared. It was stout as hell to 70mph, but it lost a lot steam after that. I always felt the motor was flying through it's powerband too quickly. The car did run low low 14s@97mph though. That is currently owned by some younger guy around Kansas City now. It has a cowl hood and Weld Drag Lites. It's pretty sweet.

BTW, my friend that use to own that 5.0 refuses to believe my Maxima is actually faster thru the 1/4 mile than his Stang. I told him prepare to be disappointed because the Maxipad just might exceed his best ET too

That's funny. People would never expect a 4 door to bet a fox body 5.0.

I thought the same way you did. But that was because I was used to the 5.0L I had. I had 3:73's in that and it was perfect IMO. A buddy put 4.10's in his '99 GT and holy crap it woke the car up. Went from running 14.4's to 13.9's. The RPM's are only 250-300 higher than stock. I am glad I went 4.10's and would actually consider the 4.30's. You will have to go for a ride and see for yourself. I will find out at the track soon enough if it was worth it.

I know though I am going to be nervous if I line up against you. 99 MPH is no slug. With a 2.0 short times I can see 13's out of that beast.

Well, you learn something everyday. 4.10s sound like the way to go. I'm assuming you haven't taken the GT to the track yet? I don't think I saw one single 99+ GT at the track on Sunday. It was either a 94-98 GT or 03 Cobra.

What's your opinion of the Bullit? I seriously think that is a great Stang both in performance and looks. I love the lack of the spoiler and the different rear pillar styling. It comes alrealy lowered (slightly), beefed up brakes, beefed up rear suspension, tastefully done interior, and that revised intake manifold, while not adding much peak power, seems to add a good bit of midrange power. What are guys getting out of their Bullits with gears and exhaust work?

Hmmmm...there are so many cars I'm going to be considering when it comes time to get a new car. I'm considering (used) the WRX, G35, Bullit, and GS400.
