Hi folks!

Here's an intersting one to think about. My '98 Mystique (Zetec) will 'jitter' (that is, just about stall), when the engine is cold, and I pull it into reverse. If I let it sit for about 2 min, it's fine.

The other problem is that if I have it sitting in park, and rev the engine, it will stutter between 1000-1500 rpm. Smoothes out after that....

I have a couple of ideas :

1) Change the O2 sensor (I've already changed the forward one)
2) TPS problem (but why does it work OK after it's warmed up a bit???)
3) Fuel pump (but it does it not matter how much fuel is in the tank)

Filters are fine (changed recently - hey, with 200,000 mi, I have too!!!)

Cheers!!

Try cleaning the IAC valve and EGR valve and their passages through the intake manifold.
