I recently started to have my ABS light come on whenever the A/C was on. I searched the other day and found that someone else has a problem with the ABS light comming on with the accessories. What possible connection the A/C has with the ABS is beyond me... but, anyway, whats the most common problem people have with the ABS? (and NO, I don't "spin out" or soak the underside of the car) thanks...

I had a similar problem a few months ago. My ABS light would come on under hard braking. I took the car to my local garage and he told me the code he could see related to an AC problem. Like you, I was confused as to what the AC had to do with the ABS.

Anyway, to make a long story short, he reset the computer, erasing the code and said if it happens again to bring it back. It did happen a couple of days later during a panic brake. This time I took it to the Ford dealer. It turned out to be my ABS anti-skid traction control something or other. They replaced the part (850.00) and the problem has not resurfaced. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask him if the light was linled somehow to the piece then changed.

By the way....the part and labor was covered under my warranty. I paid $50.00.

Well, I hope my problem isn't what yours was. I don't have a warranty. I could have the whole ABS system replaced for $850. For that kind of money I'll just rip the bulb out and drive without the ABS. Anyone have another thought....

Could a sensor just come loose or wear out or something?

I didn't ask my mechanic about this one, but off the top of my head...

I've had various problems with the ABS in my '95 Contour SE. First was a bad wheel sensor. ABS system wasn't reading what it should have and signaled a problem. Next was a problem that would trigger the error past 70mph. Turns out they had to replace the ENTIRE wiring harness in the car AND the computer to finally get it to clear...HAHAHAH...lucky for me it was under warranty as well. Happened around 60K miles. Havne't had a problem since. And good thing, those are all expensive parts.

As for the AC having anything to do with it, check the relation of the fuses. On the same fuse? Or, possible a voltage drop is causing some crazy things with the computer. Have your alternator checked.

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.
You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.

You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!
