Does anyone know the size of the nut that holds the brake rotor onto the wheel hub? I have the Ford Maintenance CD and it doesn't specify. My biggest socket size in my set does not even come close and I have a pretty large tool set. I stopped by Sears to buy a larger set of Craftsman sockets but once you get to large size sockets they sell them singly at around $10 each. Not wanting to dish out a huge amount of cash guessing, I was hoping someone may know offhand.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Ummm, the brake rotor isn't held onto the hub by the hub nut. The caliper is what holds the rotor in place. Once you take the caliper off you can remove the brake rotor.

What he said + your rotor may be rusted on to the hub.
You may need a puller to get it off. A hammer will take it off too, but may damage wheel bearings. I would stay away from hammers

Don't forget you may have some Tinnerman nuts on there too (they look like little star washers on the stud over the rotor)
My advice, use plenty of PB blaster, try to get it to work in inbetween the rotor and the hub, and lightly tap the edge of the rotor with a rubber mallet (or equivalent) until the rust comes loose from the hub. If you get desperate, use heat, but be careful not to concentrate the heat too much near the bearing, just in case.

Oh damn, thanks for the info.
I just misunderstood the Ford Service Manual picture. It looks as if the hub nut needed to be taken off. Hell that makes it way easy now. Thanks guys
