I'm going to use a blue tarp as a motorcycle cover, but I don't know what size do I need. How does 8'x10' sounds? Is it too big or too small or just right? It's for an FZR600.

DO NOT use a tarp! If any wind gets under it, it will whip around and screw up your paint job. I work for a motorcycle dealership, trust me I've seen it all. The best cover I've seen is a Nelson-Rigg Defender 2000 cover. Only one I've seen that's guaranteed 100% waterproof. And, if you get the correct size (prob. a medium), it will fit great. Plus, you will get years of use. Retail is $70, but I'm sure you can get a deal somewhere. Hell, if you're near me, I'll give you a deal on one.

I was going to use it when I haul the bike back with a blanket under the tarp. Think with a blanket underneath it'll be alright?

Using a tarp and a blanket insted of a proper cover, is like using shower curtin for a bed sheet.

Most good bike covers will come with a sac to jam the cover in to when not in use. The cover will not only work a lot better(it will be form fitting with and elastic band around the bottom), but it will take up a lot less room than a tarp and a blanket will. Trust me you will never regret buying the cover.

Save your tarp for your wood pile.

Keep in mind, most covers aren't made for towing. They will fly off. They do make them, they cover the top half of the bike and fit very tight. Just some food for thought.
