I think my starter died on me last night. When I went to the grocery store I heard a wierd clicking noise as the car started. I drove to the store went in and when I came back out my car would not crank. Battery is fine. I figure teh clicking I heard was the starter/solenoid going bad. Anyways, I tried to push start but didn't have any luck. I was doing it with the key in the on position and in first gear. Someone told me you have to do it in second gear.

Can anyone explain how to push start the SVT Tour? Can the SVT be push started?

Thanks

John

did you only try and start it once????when my starter was going out a couple months ago,it would always start up on about the 5th or 6th try...after just spinning all the other tries it would finally hit eventually...

any manual transmission viehicle can be push started. I've pop started a tri-axle dump truck, with the help of a loader pulling it of course.

The higher the gear the more leverage the drive wheels will have on the engine. Too high of a gear and the engine won't turn fast enough to start.

second gear should be fine.

Usually it might take a few cranks of the engine during a push start to prime the engine to start. Usually it takes 2 tries.
